Pleurothallis (Acianthera) Oscitans

Also known as Acianthera Oscitans this is a moderately sized epiphyte. On the larger side for terrarium orchids, this is suited to a 45x45x60 terrarium or larger. The leaves reaches about 12 cm long.

Flowers winter and spring with single spike forming in the leaf and draping down with 5-10 closely bunched flowers. Its common name is the Sleepy Pleurothallis  because of the way it’s flowers pull down the end of the horizontal spike. The leaves prefer to hang horizontal to downwards so a branch with some room below would be the perfect spot for this orchid.

Mounting :

Mount either on a branch or back wall with enough sphagnum moss to maintain moisture. Do not let sphagnum completely dry out but should not be dripping wet at all times.

Humidity :

Does well in 70+ humidity, needs decent airflow or roots can rot.

Light :

Likes moderate indirect light.
