Slightly wider and denser Biophytum than the more common Sensitivum but slightly shorter. Generally grows about 3-4cm above soil and can reach about 18cm in width although 12 is far more common. It will put off small white/pink flowers and spread seeds regularly once established in tank. Leaves will fold in darkness and at night, will also adopt a bell shape with drooping leaves to form a cone shape to preserve moisture if humidity is too low. Very dramatic plant, but hardier than it likes to act. If it starts to bell, increase misting schedule. Ours tend to fold up 30 minutes to an hour before lights out, I haven’t noticed any difference in growth or health following its schedule so I went back to my preferred lighting schedule. New growth comes out a bronze colour and particularly on juveniles can be mistaken for damaged or unhappy leaves.
Does best with consistently moist ABG mixture. Do not let soil dry out
Does well in 70+ humidity, tolerant of lower airflow.
Prefers low to moderate lighting.
