Heather And Sean
We are the co-owners of Vine and Dandy, meeting cute in 2018 at a mutual friends going away party and. We both have a background in Film and VFX, working on features such as Laika’s Wildwood(heather) and Godzilla vs Kong(Sean). We have both grown up in families that prioritized orchids and other unique plants.
Heather hails originally from Colorado, and moved to Vancouver for work on the Willoughbys a few months before meeting Sean. Heathers is a Layout Supe for Animation, which can be thought of as animated cinematography.
She has extensive experience with large orchids such as Oncidiums. She has been working with terrarium plants since 2019, when we built our Imitator tank. She was the key to our success with terrarium orchids.
Sean is referred to in the VFX industry as a unicorn, as he is originally from the Sunshine Coast and not a transplant. He is an Emmy winning Rigging Dept. Head. rigging is the creation of digital puppets for animation and VFX. While he does not sculpt models himself he extensively advises on the anatomical design of creatures. His favourite development project was the Trench creature for Aquaman, as it gave him the opportunity to research hyostyly in Goblin Sharks, Moray Eels and anglerfish. While he has never had the opportunityto rig a frog, he did get to rig Godzilla, which technically counts as a lizard. Samsa was the girl who started it all, when he moved to back to Vancouver after dropping out of Emily Carr university in 2012. Soon after he added a trio of Hyloxalus Azureiventris to his little family. That was his first tank, and he definitely jumped in a bit too early on Lepanthes orchids. After several very expensive casualties he smartened up and backed off the orchids and had a lot of success. When Sean went back to Uni in 2016, he did the responsible thing and rehomed the Hylo trio as he was concerned that he didn’t have the support network to care for the delicate little critters while he was focused on school.

Mickey
is a Chazutan Ranitomeya Imitator dart frog. We had no intention of breeding these frogs, however, life finds a way and Mikey is a proud father. He likes to sit near the front of the tank in the large bromeliad and chirp while Sean is working.
