Native to Central and South America, this is a personal favourite of ours. The relatively large flowers standing on top of the oblong leaves remind Sean of the orange sails on his windsurf board growing up.
Blooms in the spring. Spike is 1 to 1.5 cm long with a broad petaled flower significantly larger than the leaves. Temperatures on this gorgeous species run right around room temps, doing best with 24ish during the day and 19-20 during nights.

Mount out of the soil either on a branch or back wall with a small amount of sphagnum moss, making sure the sphagnum doesn’t dry out.
Does well in 70+ humidity, needs decent airflow or roots can rot.
Likes indirect bright light.
